How to reduce PDF size for online forms (100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB)
Exam, job, scholarship and government portals usually set a size limit for uploads, often 100 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB. Scanned documents from a phone are often several megabytes. Here is how to bring them under the limit.
Open the tool: Compress PDF →Step by step
- Open Panna's Compress PDF tool and select your PDF.
- Choose Recommended compression first and click Compress PDF.
- Check the new size shown on the result screen. If it is still above the limit, run the compressed file again with Strong compression.
- Download the file and open it once to make sure the text is still readable before you upload it.
Tips
- Scan in black and white or greyscale instead of colour. This alone can cut the size by more than half.
- Upload only the pages the form asks for. Use Remove pages to drop blank or extra pages first.
- If you made the PDF from photos, crop the photos tightly to the document before converting them.
- A one-page scan usually fits under 200 KB with Strong compression. Very long documents may need to be split into parts.
Common questions
Can every PDF be compressed to exactly 100 KB?
Not always. The final size depends on the number of pages and how much detail they contain. One or two scanned pages usually fit; a 20-page colour scan may not.
Will the text still be clear?
Recommended compression keeps scans easy to read. Strong compression is smaller but softer, so always check the result before submitting.
Is it safe to compress Aadhaar, PAN or marksheets here?
Yes. Panna compresses files inside your browser. The document is never uploaded to a server.
